The second scientific symposium, organized by the College of Administrative Sciences in partnership with the Madad Hadramout Center for Research and Strategic Studies, concluded on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Sayoun. The symposium addressed the theme of “Community Partnership and Economic Development: Challenges and Future Perspectives.”

The symposium was inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of Hadramout for the Affairs of the Valley and the Desert, Mr. Amer Saeed Al-Amri, and the President of Sayoun University, Dr. Mohammed Ashour Al-Kathiri, along                     m with Assistant Deputy Mr. Abdel Hadi Al-Tamimi. Mr. Al-Amri highlighted the significance of the symposium, which tackled the importance of universities, civil society organizations, and endowments in economic development. He commended the efforts of Sayoun University, the College of Administrative Sciences, and the Madad Hadramout Center for organizing this symposium and emphasizing the enhancement of scientific research.

Dr. Mohammed Ashour Al-Kathiri, the President of Sayoun University, emphasized the College of Administrative Sciences’ distinction in scientific research through its organization of numerous symposiums and events.

In his remarks, Engineer Abdul Khaliq Al-Haddar, the President of the Madad Hadramout Center for Research and Strategic Studies, stated that the symposium comes amidst turbulent economic challenges facing the nation due to the ongoing conflict. Through this symposium, they seek to provide solutions and recommendations to contribute to economic recovery, outlining the center’s areas of expertise in research and studies in political, economic, and social domains.

Ten research papers were presented at the symposium, covering three main axes: community partnership for universities and their role in economic development, the role of civil society organizations in economic development, and the role of endowments in economic development.

The symposium was attended by academic leaders, executive office managers, civil society organization leaders, specialists, as well as a number of male and female students.
